Located in Rockland County in the enclave of Snedens Landing, in the hamlet of Palisades that is nicknamed "Hollywood on the Hudson," the home, known as the Yellow House, is for sale for $3.69 million.
According to Zillow, the house, set on nearly four acres, was built in the 1980s as a family home for the actor/comedian and his family.
The home was built to incorporate elements from the 19th-century Yellow Barn on the property. The 5,177-square-foot structure is said to be "charming" and a "masterpiece," according to Zillow.
The five-bedroom, five-bath home also features a free-standing 2-car garage with an office/studio above. With all modern conveniences, Zillow says, it takes you back to "the charming Yellow Barn and the bygone days of river village life in Snedens Landing."
Zillow added that the home's highlights include lots of natural light, 15-foot ceilings, a wood-burning fireplace, a wrap-around porch, a treehouse, and a large lawn.
The home used to feature the famed fire pole from the Ghostbusters movie, but it was removed when Murray sold it.
Every room is large, including the recently renovated kitchen, which features a large island, state-of-the-art appliances, and a century-old wood-burning fireplace in the footprint of the original Yellow Barn.
Extras include a large laundry room and en suite au pair/housekeeper bedroom, located off the kitchen.
Zillow said the second story features an enormous primary suite with high ceilings, two walk-in closets, and a full bath on one side of the house and two generous-sized bedrooms with shared baths on the other.
Also included in the sale is 28 Ludlow Lane, an additional 2-acre parcel on a separate/buildable tax lot.
Besides Murray, house residents have included well-known actors, composers, and artists whose work appears in museums worldwide.
The house is listed by Ellis Sotheby's International Realty at 845-353-4250 and Marjorie Galen at 845-598-1375.
